What to expect


The Patents Department is part of Legal and Compliance and is responsible for identifying and protecting intellectual property (IP) generated within Jaguar Land Rover. The Department’s objective is to identify new developments in the technologies that are important to Jaguar Land Rover, and to protect them in order to enhance our competitiveness, improve our market position and increase the value of the company. The Patents Department is also responsible for defending the company against threats or litigation related to patent infringement.


What you’ll need


As the successful candidate in this fantastic opportunity, you will ensure that all intellectual property generated within vehicle development teams is captured, protected and that any known patent-related risks are reported. You will be a creative thinker and have excellent communication skills to monitor projects and be able to identify IP opportunities. You will supervise external patent attorney firms to prepare patent applications. Other responsibilities will include but not limited to: Provide training and support to engineering staff on the use of patent department tools, support IP deliverables for vehicle development programmes and support the development and roll-out of patent training.


Knowledge, skills & experience


Essential:

  • General understanding of Intellectual Property and basic patent principles and processes.
  • Ability to interpret technical information and have an eye for detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
